What entertainment did I watch/listen to this month? (movies, tv shows, plays, music, concerts, etc.) we watch all kinds of movies as a family...the big thing this month was the start of "being human". zoe and i have movie night two or 3 times a week and we play music all the time. this month's favorite album is wasting light by the foofighters
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends? chloe joined the NHS this month and devyn began to do cheer at ps 13. we go to the library twice a month and get zoe booksplus we go and hang out at the mall.
What gifts did I give and/or receive? chloe received a kindle for being such an AWESOME kid:)
What special or unusual purchases did I make? nothing much. lots of books, groceries and an unusual binge of digi-supplies.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have? we are working on zoe's health, have new drs for everything including new psych, new allergist and derma. guillermo had his tooth worked on and zoe is still working on her braces.
What were my accomplishments this month? i got through the month without loosing my mind.
What were my disappointments this month? finally realized that i REALLY can't fix everything and made a long-term decision for one of my babies:(
How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals) keeping up with my reading.
Anything else noteworthy to include? not really....just glad to see january 2012 GO:)

in the last week i have purchased or downloaded more than i have in three months.

yup. no GOOD:(

plus i have not been taking many pictures, so i am stuck.

so feb and march are going to be NO BUY months.

and when i say no buy i mean NO BUY.

no prints, no paper supplies. NOTHING.

i have done it before, i can do it again:)

ok. so here's the story.

right now i am current on my new pictures.

what does that mean? well, it means that i have no new pictures that i can scrapbook digitally without being redundant. we cannot afford redundancy in the macias household:)

this year i am going to do 100 page shutterfly books instead of single pages simply because i have run out of room, AGAIN.

i am also doing project life for sure this year and a trying a new system this year. so far it is working.

anything that does not make it onto a shutterfly book page goes into my project life. the only way i was able to make this work was by shrinking the pages into 6x6 squares and fitting them into becky higgins four square page protectors.

the other thing i am doing is cutting down old printed pictures to fit into baseball card page protectors and using project life to record random memories.

these days i am remembering more and more crazy, random things so i want to make sure i write them down.

a little memory of my lifetime:)

These days have been REALLY hard on our family.Going to drs for Zoe and trying to get her situation under control has been heavy on us all.I pray every night that the next day will be easier and that it goes by quickly.We have finally secured a psychiatrist for an evaluation on the 30th.Will she have the same disorders that I do? Will she have to be medicated forever?Having aspergers syndrome is one thing, and believe me it has taken years for us to make peace with the diagnosis.Just writing my feelings down makes me want to cry and scream out and yell to the heavens why her? Why my child? How do I answer when she asks me is she will be miserable forever? How do I carry oN a conversation when she just goes off on her OCD behaviors? I wonder what the future holds and I have to cover myself with steel, just to make it through the days. I love her, so much so that I worry about my other children. Will they hold these days against me? I try so hard to divide myself into parts for everyone and I don't always succeed. I feel the disappointment when I spread myself too thin and them i start the cycle all over again. I never had a mom in the classic sense, and I have no blueprint for what is right and what is wrong. I hope with all my heart that I am doing right, even though I am doing things in the dark most of the time.And that is it.The deepest fear in my heart.It feels good to write it down.

this year i am simplifying a little bit more in my documenting.

all of my 8x8 album space is almost filled up and i am feeling a need to minimize this year.

enter project life.

i used marcy penner's planning templates to get my pictures printed.

soooooo much easier.

i am also planning to do a 6x6 page collage to cut down on my printing. all my pages will be going into 12 x12 albums (just because i have space already dedicated to these).

these are my pictures all cut up and ready to go.

and an overview of the finished layout. i am not doing a 365 type album, but i am taking pictures during the month and recording the things we do.

and that is just what i did....and i LOVE it.

making project life work for me

earlier this year i purchased project life, fully expecting to do a 365 type album.

life got in the way.

i was able to stay on track until may and then i just fizzled out.

since then i have been using the elements of the kit on other projects and i still have TONS of paper tidbits left.

i just started this random memories book.

i had a pack of baseball card page protectors in my stash.

and this 1.5 stack of old printed pictures of family.

this is the rest of my printed pictures. thankfully they are all in one place. YAY ME!!

the process for this album is simple.

i cut down the cards and pictures to fit the page protector spaces

when i am finished filling up the spaces, i'll add journaling on the cards. it is really important for me to get this done.

these pictures have survived thru so much, especially the ones that are my husband's. i want to make sure that the memories are captured, however small.

isn't that what scrapbooking is all about?

QUINCE: transforming the dress:)

we are planning chloe's quince for june 2.

her birthday is actually on dec. 2, but the thought of a winter event was just not fun.

so we pushed it back to her 15.5

my mom sent me my little sister's formal dresses, including the one she had special made for her quince.

while i LOVE the theme of lord of the rings and the whole medieval thing, i thought it would make miss chloe look like an exact replica....which we did not want.

the top of the dress is a beautiful silver lace with rhinestones. that stays:)

the bottom of the dress had a v of silver corded lace to make it look medieval. that came off.

it is GORGEOUS so i plan to use it to make something else for the dress

the sleeves are coming off. i will leave the underpinning OF the chiffon on the sleeve so it does not itch,

i am also planning on a petticoat to make it a little fuller, plus i want to make the skirt sparkle, so i will be adding crystals.

i never had a quince and i want ALL my girls to have one.

chloe deserves a big huge party with all the trimmings, she is everything i could have ever wanted

in a daughter and i'll be damned if she doesn't get it ALL.

since i went digital, the idea of finally becoming "caught up" with my pictures was a REAL thing. no longer abstract, i was at the end of the tunnel.

wow.

now i am left with the finally organized 2 storage boxes of printed pictures.

yesterday i went thru them with a fine tooth comb.

in truth these pictures are the leftovers from my photo album sort of 2011:) i bought a bunch of 3 up books from costco and put all the best pictures in those by subject: chloe, zoe devyn etc.

so what to do now?

i have so many "completed" albums that the house is about to burst (that is the reason why i went digital in the first place). my paper stash is REALLY minimal and honestly, the idea of making anymore mini-albums makes me want to pull my hair out....again a storage issue.

my plan and hope in life is to be able to make everything as minimal as possible, while still maintaining a full life.

where is that line?

i though that project life would fill the space, but honestly, just thinking of having to store another 12x12 album is just not in the plan.

what is a scrapper to do??

digital scrapping never ceases to amaze me.

it is just crazy that you can take a blank template, plug some photos into it and then just let it sit for a while until you are ready to attack it.

for example, right now i have about 10-12 templates with pictures on my desktop.

they are all the photos i have up to this morning (yes, i am current on my pictures).

it took me about 2 hours to get those done in one stitting

12 pages in 2 hours?...yup!

then i just let them simmer until i find the right paper and then i get them finished:)

this template is a jenn lindsay blended photo one.

i could never do this technique on my own...takes too long!

but i have a bunch of blend templates that i can adjust for what i need.

easy peasy!

i added the paper layers, title and subtitle...done in about 25 minutes!

it is seriously magical!

and i do not use the word lightly!!!!

this afternoon in between all our errand running , we made a quick stop @ the park,

of course, i took the camera.

fall is my absolute favorite-est time to take pictures.

the light is beautiful and the colors are amazing.

we got to the park and miss zoe had a meltdown in the car.

there was no way she was coming out.

since she found out all the things she is allergic to, she has become very very ocd about avoiding those things.

today she was NOT going out to the park because of the grass and ragweed.

so we parked in a far spot and took pictures next to the car.

and that is how it is most of the time.

we deal with it as best we can because that is what we do.

we adapt.

and we try to make things are good as we can.

this is the template as it was.

i turned off all the embellishment layers and the paint layer also.

after i finished the template tweaking, i wanted to include more photos.

duplicating the photo layers and then re-arranging them did the trick.

i was able to include all the pictures i took of my puppy on that particular day.

i made a costco digital photobook for zoe's birthday:)

the pages are 11x8.5.

i follow a big picture + layout formula when i make costco albums.

events are sooo much easier to scrap now. i just put them into one simple album and it is all done:)

i also got 8 pages printed. now that summer is over the picture taking slows down, so i can save up a few pages and print them out @ costco instead of waiting to place a big order @ persnickety.

i was able to scrap 30 pictures for about $12.00. not bad...and the pages are all done and ready to go into albums. and flat too:)

i have purged and minimized and hoped that the love would come back, but it hasn't:(
the last few days i have taken out the paper stuff and tried...but all i do is get frustrated and upset and just plain bleh.
the last few weeks have bought me blessing upon blessing and it is time to throw some good energy out into the world.
i am keeping some cardstock and supplies, but the bulk of it will be going to a good and loving hone...i hope. the truth of it is that while it has been a good ride...it is time to give it up and put my energies into photography and digital scrapping. this is where my heart is now..
will keep everyone posted on what happens:)

i have been doing quite a bit of paper scrapping.

totally did not realize that there are sooooo many little bits of stories that are in a photo box:( no bueno.

i have a library of memories -type set up in 12x12, 8.5x11,8x8 and 5.5x8.5.

this particular page is a "place we go" page with 11 pictures of chloe on a vacation we took in 1999.

everything is old stash, since i have not bought anything paper related except adhesive and a paper trimmer is a LOOONNNGGGGG time

i love this page:)

i am also proud to say that i am caught up with my digital printing:)

it feels AWESOME~~~!!!!

a big huge part of my scrap*booking has revolved around plastic.

specifically page protectors.

those things have been the bane of my existence.

from getting an album to finding protectors that fit. UGH.

lately i have been contemplating just forgoing it completely.

i made the move with my digital pages and it has been awesome.

now that i am doing old prints i am going to simpler pages.

and it is easier to just punch holes on a page and throw it in a book.

i just make sure that everything is secure.

and i can knock out one more thing that i spend tons of money on.

we'll see where this takes me:)

let me introduce you to my box of paper scraps.

are you like me and ALWAYS order at least one duplicate of your digital pages?

i do it all the time.

a little 8.5x11 hybrid page.

made this little lollipop flower to fill in some space and give the page some dimension.

a hodge*podge of SU, basic grey and bazzill CS.

i LIKE it:)

frugal = cheap and i have become the world's cheapest scrapper:)

after years and years and years of hoarding and accumulating i decided that enough was enough.

one huge purge and a lot of small de-cluttering fixes, i am left with a hodgepodge of stuff that i am determined to use because, well...i can:)

this is one of those type of pages.

i went thru ALL of my kids' birthdays that were already printed and triaged like CRAZY!

most are in project life page protector that i will eventually get embellished, some i chucked all-together and there were some that were put into my little box of library of memories pictures.

i had nine pictures that i wanted to make sure were on a single 12x12.

figuring out how to out them together on a 12x12.

finishing the page. i added a strip of SU paper, some tags and letter stickers.

i am forgoing the journaling because i really don't have much to say about that day (my brain is swiss cheese these days).

and that is that:)

ohhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhh.
